The SA20 match between the Pretoria Capitals and Durban Super Giants at Supersport Park in Centurion on Sunday afternoon was abandoned without a ball bowled because of persistent rain.

Every effort was made to facilitate a 5-over match before the cut-off point at 6:36pm but, although the rain had stopped, the umpires agreed that conditions had not improved sufficiently for a game to begin. The points were therefore shared.

The fixture was a rematch of Friday night’s encounter at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead and gave the Capitals a chance to avenge a game they should have won easily but lost by just two-runs after a breathtaking top order collapse.

Chasing 210 for victory the Capitals enjoyed an opening stand of 154 in just 12 overs requiring just 56 from the final 48 balls but slumped to 207-6.

The toss did take place before the match was due to begin with the home side bringing batsman Marques Ackerman and allrounder Migael Pretorius into the team while the Super Giants replaced New Zealand great Kane Williamson, who has a minor injury, with West Indian opener Brandon King and drafting in allrounder Jason Smith and fast bowler Junior Dala.
