The Bulls Daisies have been crowned and celebrated as the 2024 Team of the Year at the 19th Momentum gsport Awards.

The 2023 and 2024 SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division champions were recognised for their achievements during an evening dedicated to showcasing the very best of women’s sport with the Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, Peace Mabe, in attendance.

The trend-setting Daisies won the award in recognition of their back-to-back stellar campaigns where they have won 29 from 30 in the domestic competition over the last two seasons. Hayden Groepes’ and co have also been relentless in producing Springbok players which currently stands at 15; thereby positively contributing to the qualification of South Africa to the Women’s World Cup in England.

Thando Manana, the Executive for Strategic Projects at the BBCo says the award is a celebration of both the team and commercial partners who have backed the Daisies.

“Firstly, congratulations to our Daisies. This is a great recognition from South Africans who see the great strides they are making in the advancement of professional women’s rugby and a special salute for their remarkable results on and off the field,”

“This is also an award to our commercial partners who have backed us from the start when it doesn’t seem fashionable to support women’s rugby or sport. We continue to forge a future in our respective fields for young girls to realise their ultimate goals and become global icons and this is made possible by the partners who have put their backing behind us,”

“The future of women’s rugby and women’s sport is in safe hands if you consider that platforms like gsport continue to break barriers and create spaces for women to seen, heard and celebrated; so we salute Kass [Naidoo] and everyone else who works tirelessly behind the scenes to produce the incredible athletes and other industry role players that we see.”
