The vastly experienced Xolisani Ndongeni, who was born in Duncan Village in the Eastern Cape, added another title to his collection when he stopped Israel Kammwamba from Blantyre, Malawi in the first round, to win the vacant African Boxing Union junior welterweight title at Igwenyama Lodge in White River, Mpumalanga on Saturday.

This is a match that should never have been sanctioned, as the 27-year-old Kammwamba, 12-8-1; 8, a five-year pro, has never fought anyone of consequence and has only won four of his last 12 fights according to Boxrec.

The 31-year-old Ndongeni, 29-2; 17, has had an outstanding career since making his pro debut in May 2010 and has won the Eastern Cape, South African, WBF International junior lightweight, IBO International, WBA Pan African, IBO, WBF, WBC International, lightweight and WBA Pan African junior welterweight titles.

On the undercard the 31-year-old Thato Bonokoane, 11-5-3; 8, from Soweto was outpointed over six rounds by Said Chino, 17-8-2; 12, of Tanzania in a junior featherweight bout.
