The wait for Kaizer Chiefs fans is over as the club formally unveiled their new Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi after he met the players on Sunday.

The Soweto club released a video of Nabi talking to the squad at training with the brief statement: “We are delighted to welcome Coach Nasreddine Nabi to the Kaizer Chiefs family. We are happy to have you with us, Coach.”

Nabi left Moroccan club AS FAR this week after losing in the final of the Throne Cup to Josep Zinnbauer’s Raja Casablanca on Monday.

He has the tough job of reviving what has traditionally been the most successful club in South African football, but is now without a trophy in nine season, the longest drought in the club’s illustrious history.

Worse, fans have had to watch as bitter rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have collected numerous trophies in that time.

Nabi spent just one season with AS FAR and before that was coach of Young Africans in Tanzania. He has long been linked with the top job at Naturena.

He won two league titles at Yanga and also led them to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2022-23, where they lost to Algerian side USM Alger on away goals.
