Crisis-club Fiorentina condemn "unacceptable" death threats from fans

Fiorentina on Sunday condemned threats directed at the families of the troubled club's players after the latest defeat left the team rooted to the bottom of Serie A.

The Tuscan outfit are yet to win in 14 league matches this season, with just six points collected following Saturday's 3-1 loss at Sassuolo.

Fiorentina expressed "solidarity and support for the players and their families after unacceptable and shameful threats in the hours following the defeat in Reggio Emilia".

"This form of behaviour has no place in football or society," said Fiorentina, who added that security measures had been taken to "safeguard the players, members of staff, their loved ones and families".

Following Saturday's loss, the eighth in Serie A this season for Fiorentina, the wife of Brazilian defender Dodo published on social media death threats aimed at her and her family.
