DAY 2: Titans reach lunch unscathed after bowling Lions out for 316
The Momentum Multiply Titans reached lunch unscathed on 31/0 in their first innings after they bowled out the DP World Lions for 316 in the first session on day two of their CSA 4-Day series game at DP World Wanderers on Wednesday.
It was a positive start to their innings as openers Joshua van Heerden (9no) and Neil Brand (18no) navigated the eight overs to the break well, defending when needed and putting away the bad balls.
They will now look to build on their budding first wicket partnership in the days second session as the visitors try to set themselves up to pass the Lions first innings total.
At the start of play the Lions had resumed their first innings on 257/7 and would have been targeting a score in excess of 300, but it looked like they might not be able to do that after their last recognised batter, Connor Esterhuizen (45) was run out by Van Heerden with the score 281/8.
However No 9 batter Codi Yusuf put in a superb lower order shift, hitting seven fours in scoring 44 off 61 balls, as he boosted his side over the 300-run mark.
He shared in a 13-run ninth wicket stand with Tshepo Moreki (3), before Moreki was trapped LBW by Tsepo Mdwandwa. Yusuf and Lutho Sipamla (6no) added a valuable 22 runs for the last wicket before Yusuf was last man out, edging Dewald Brevis to wicketkeeper Rivaldo Moonsamy.
Corbin Bosch ended the innings as the Titans most successful bowler having picked up 4/71, while Ndwandwa backed him up well with 3/73.
