Yamal, Valverde, Moleiro, Mumin and Dmitrović win the LaLiga Awards for September
LaLiga, as part of its agreement with Globe Soccer Awards, has given out the latest prizes that form part of the “LaLiga Awards, The pride of our fútbol” across five monthly categories which recognise the best goal, best player, best coach, best save and best under-23 player. There will also be recognition for the Team of the Season and the top player in terms of their social contribution.
In order to decide these prizes, the opinions of an expert committee are combined with the views of the fans who vote for each month’s winners online.
THE WINNERS FOR THIS MONTH WERE:
Best Player: Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona)
Lamine Yamal has been recognised as the Best Player in LALIGA EA SPORTS for the month of September. This comes after he already won the Best Under-23 Player prize in August. He now claims this overall award, which is presented in collaboration with EA SPORTS.
The young FC Barcelona winger has four goals and five assists following the completion of Matchday 9. Curiously, the team’s Matchday 8 loss at CA Osasuna was their only defeat so far in LALIGA EA SPORTS and the only game in which Lamine Yamal wasn’t a starter, yet he scored a goal anyway. That shows how important he is, while he is also assisting regularly and produced a very impressive pass to set up one of the goals in the 5-1 Matchday 6 victory away at Villarreal CF. He is clearly on top form and causing problems for all opponents.
Best Under-23 Player: Alberto Moleiro (UD Las Palmas)
The young UD Las Palmas star Alberto Moleiro has won the Best Under-23 Player award for the September LALIGA EA SPORTS action.
He was excellent, even if UD Las Palmas failed to win any of their five fixtures in the month, against Deportivo Alavés, Athletic Club, CA Osasuna, Real Betis and Villarreal CF. Moleiro scored goals in the games against CA Osasuna and Real Betis, and now takes this award for young talent, succeeding Lamine Yamal, the August winner.
The Tenerife-born player beat other candidates such as Enzo Boyomo (CA Osasuna), Marc Casadó (FC Barcelona), Hugo Álvarez (RC Celta) and Vitor Roque (Real Betis) in the final vote.
Best Coach: Ernesto Valverde (Athletic Club)
Ernesto Valverde has been named the Best Coach in LALIGA EA SPORTS for September, an honour presented by LALIGA in collaboration with Microsoft.
Athletic Club had a great month, going undefeated throughout September by achieving three victories against UD Las Palmas, CD Leganés and RC Celta and a draw against Sevilla FC. They didn’t suffer any defeats until a 2-1 loss at Girona FC, already in October. Under Valverde, Athletic Club have moved up to sixth in the standings and they currently have 14 points. This is the first individual prize for Valverde this campaign, after he beat FC Barcelona’s Hansi Flick and Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti.
Best Goal: Abdul Mumin (Rayo Vallecano)
The scorer of the Best Goal of September in LALIGA EA SPORTS was Abdul Mumin, the Rayo Vallecano player.
Mumin’s goal was a fierce shot from far and wide of the goal, which made it 1-1 during a game against CA Osasuna in Vallecas, which the home team went on to win 3-1. It was crucial for his team to come back from a goal down.
The Ghanaian defender won the vote for the Best Goal of September by edging out the goals from CA Osasuna’s Raúl García de Haro and UD Las Palmas’ Sandro.
Best Save: Marko Dmitrović (CD Leganés)
Marko Dmitrović is the winner of the Best Save prize for September in LALIGA EA SPORTS.
The CD Leganés goalkeeper was fundamental in his team’s 1-1 draw against Getafe CF thanks to a vital save. When the scores were locked at 0-0 at the Coliseum, the Serbian shot-stopper managed to block an overhead kick from Mauro Arambarri, preventing their rivals from taking the lead. That ended up being the top save of the round and the month.
The CD Leganés No 13 has won this LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Save prize for the first time, beating Getafe CF’s David Soria and CA Osasuna’s Sergio Herrera in the final vote.
