The Renault Potchefstroom North West Dragons won the toss and elected to bat first in their CSA 4-Day Series match against the DP World Lions at the JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom, on Thursday.

The Dragons are in third place after registering back-to-back draws on the road. In both matches, they fought from a position of weakness to walk away with points. Against the Dafabet Warriors, Rubin Hermann, Ruan de Swardt and Migael Pretorius scored half-centuries in the second innings to secure points at St George's Park. Against Goldrush Boland, Raynard van Tonder and Wihan Lubbe chalked unbeaten half-centuries in the second innings of a weather-affected contest.

In this contest, the Dragons will be looking to improve on their effort and register their first victory of the season.

Lions is one of the few teams that have played one match coming into this week. The Gauteng side registered a victory in their first outing. The win was built on first innings half-centuries from Zubayr Hamza and Dominic Hendricks, and a four-wicket haul from Lutho Sipamla. They cemented the victory with a second innings Hamza 50 that set the stage for an inspired ton from Bjorn Fortuin. Codi Yusuf, who is coming into his own with the ball, sealed the win with a second-innings four-wicket haul.
