Promotion-chasing Ipswich held by Rotherham

Ipswich's bid for promotion to the Premier League suffered a setback as struggling Rotherham snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw on Tuesday.

Kieran McKenna's side were moments away from victory at the New York Stadium after Jack Taylor put the visitors 2-1 up with just three minutes left.

But Christ Tiehi equalised for Rotherham in stoppage time to deny the Tractor Boys.

In their first season back in the Championship after last season's promotion from League One, Ipswich are on an 11-game unbeaten run and sit second in the table.

They are three points behind leaders Leicester, with the top two automatically promoted to the Premier League.

Rotherham, though, took the lead in the fourth minute when Fred Onyedinma teed up Sam Nombe to slide in for his first Millers goal.

Ipswich levelled with 19 minutes gone from a clever free-kick routine.

Leif Davis picked out the unmarked Sam Morsy on the edge of the area and he had the time to curl his shot into the top corner.

Rotherham had a good chance to retake the lead when Sean Morrison headed off target from Jordan Hugill's flick.

Ipswich thought they had taken all three points after going ahead in the 87th minute.

Davis managed to keep the ball in play down the left and his cross was smashed against Taylor by Morrison and trickled over the line.

But with two minutes of stoppage time played, Tiehi's fierce effort from the edge of the area gave third-bottom Rotherham a hard-earned point.
