Lorient hold Monaco in game with two own goals and two red cards
Struggling Lorient came away from AS Monaco with a precious point in Ligue 1 on Sunday after a 2-2 draw that had two own goals while both sides were reduced to 10 men before Tiemoue Bakayoko scored a last-gasp equaliser for the visitors.
The result leaves Monaco in third place, a point behind Brest in second after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Lille earlier on Sunday. Lorient are 15th with 26 points, one point above the relegation playoff spot.
Lorient took an unexpected lead in the first minute when Mohamed Bamba struck the post but the ball rebounded off Wilfried Singo and into the net for an unfortunate own goal.
But Monaco equalised with another bizarre own goal in the 27th when Lorient's Formose Mendy was unaware of his keeper Yvon Mvogo's position and the defender chested the ball into the net.
Monaco made it 2-1 on the hour when Aleksandr Golovin's cross was headed home by Youssouf Fofana at the far post before Denis Zakaria was sent off for a second booking in the 81st.
Lorient's Aiyegun Tosin was then sent with a straight red card for a studs-up tackle on Singo but with virtually the last kick of the game, Bakayoko scored against his former club with a header in the 94th minute although he did not celebrate.
