Massive game at the top in MTN Super League

The top two will meet in a potentially season-defining clash in the MTN Super League when Power Dynamos hosts Zesco United on Sunday.

Dynamos lead Zesco by three points in the table with six games remaining for each and were they to stretch that advantage to six points, on current form it would be hard to see how they could be reeled in.

Dynamos are on a seven-game winning streak as they seek to regain the league title they last won in the 2022/23 campaign.

Their winning run since the start of February has seen them score 17 goals and conceded one. They are unbeaten in nine in all (W8 D1).

It is a far cry from an awful December when they went five games without a victory (D1 L4) and seemed to blow their title chances.

Zesco, by contrast, have been up and down of late with two draws, a defeat and a single victory in their last four games.

That has allowed Dynamos to overhaul them at the top of the table and steal the march in the title race.

Matches between these two have been characterized by draws in recent times.

Zesco won 2-0 earlier this campaign, but before that the teams played to five draws in a row.

Zesco edge the league head-to-head in the last 37 meetings, winning 12 to Dynamos 11, with 14 draws included. In matches at Dynamos that swings 6-4 in the home side’s favour, with eight draws.

In another important game on Saturday, relegation-threatened Zanaco host Nkwazi.

Zanaco sit a point above the drop zone but could climb into 12th with a win and ease their worries somewhat. Nkwazi are in sixth place and will stay there, even with three points.

Nkwazi have only ever won once in 14 previous clashes at Zanaco (D5 L8), which was in 2023.
