Mainoo starts for England against unchanged Slovakia at Euro 2024
Teenager Kobbie Mainoo starts in central midfield for England in their Euro 2024 last-16 match against Slovakia, as manager Gareth Southgate keeps faith with his forward line.
The 19-year-old Mainoo, who enjoyed a breakout season for Manchester United, replaces Conor Gallagher in England's only change, as Southgate sticks with his front four led by captain Harry Kane for the fourth game in a row at the tournament.
Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona names an unchanged starting 11 from his side's last group-stage game against Romania, with David Strelec preferred to Robert Bozenik up front.
Slovakia's 10 other players have started all four games at Euro 2024, as they seek to reach a major tournament quarterfinal for the first time.
