The additional 1 000 entries that were made available from Friday, 6 December, at 8am were snapped up within two hours, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) announced on Friday.

"We are incredibly excited by the enthusiastic response to the additional entries," said CMA Chairperson, Mqondisi Ngcobo.

"The Comrades Marathon is more than just a race; it’s a celebration of human spirit and determination. We look forward to welcoming all our runners to the Comrades start line."

Athletes who were unable to secure an entry are encouraged to stay connected through the official Comrades Marathon channels for details of the Comrades Substitution Process, which will run over March and April 2025.

The race will be run on Sunday, 8 June 2025 starting at 05h30 and finishing at 17h30.

The route in 2025 will be a 'down run' from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, and the distance is approximately 89km.
