Chiefs, Stellenbosch surge to midweek wins
A full round of midweek Betway Premiership action drew to a close on Wednesday evening, with Kaizer Chiefs overpowering AmaZulu and Stellenbosch FC emphatically dispatching Cape Town City in their derby clash.
The midweek also featured wins for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday, while top-flight newcomers Magesi FC seemed on course for an upset win over Golden Arrows for their first-ever Premiership three-pointer, but the match was abandoned with just a few minutes of regulation time remaining due to a power failure at the Mpumalanga Stadium.
Chiefs got off to a flyer against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with goals from Ranga Chivaviro, Gaston Sirino and Ignacio Miguel inside the opening 23 minutes setting the stage for a comfortable triumph. Usuthu pulled one back via Etiosa Ighodaro in the second half, but the Amakhosi ultimately recorded a 3-1 victory.

Stellenbosch, by contrast, had to wait until injury time in the first half to break the deadlock against City at the Danie Craven Stadium, but Andre De Jong’s opening strike set them on the path to a morale-boosting 3-0 win, which also featured goals from Fawaaz Basadien (an incredible long-ranger that is an early contender for goal of the season) and Sanele Barns.

Tuesday saw Pirates and Mamelodi both secure big home wins to make it two from two in the league, while a KwaZulu Natal derby between Royal AM and Richards Bay ended in a goalless stalemate.
The Buccaneers crushed Polokwane City 3-0 in Soweto thanks to second-half strikes from Monnapule Saleng and Evidence Makgopa (two), while the Brazilians thumped Marumo Gallants 4-1 in Tshwane courtesy of goals from Tashreeq Matthews, Iqraam Rayners, Lucas Ribeiro and Sphelele Mkhulise.
