SuperSport complete Nurkovic signing
SuperSport United have added to their striker stocks with the signing of Serbian forward Samir Nurkovic on an 18-month deal, the club confirmed on Friday.
The free agent arrives at Matsatsantsa having departed TS Galaxy ahead of the new season, and joins Ethiopian Abubeker Nasir in the search for goals for coach Gavin Hunt.
“Samir is a proven number 9 target man with a good track record and who will fit in well with our style of play, which looks to get crosses in from wide areas and to capitalise on set pieces,” SuperSport CEO Stanley Matthews said in a statement.
Nurkovic, who has also played for Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership, is looking forward to a fresh start.
“I am so happy and grateful to be at a wonderful and amazing club like SuperSport United. I am very much looking forward to my first training session at the club,
getting to meet my new teammates and getting to work,” the 32-year-old said.
He has scored 30 goals in 72 starts for his various clubs in South Africa.
