Proteas win toss and bat against Ireland

South Africa will bat first against Ireland, after winning the toss ahead of the first of three women’s T20 internationals at Newlands in Cape Town.

 

Newlands is the venue for the tour opener before the action moves on to Paarl then Benoni, leading into a trio of one-day internationals.

It’s a first outing in the shortest form for the Proteas since their 2-1 series loss to the West Indies back in June in the Caribbean.

Their visitors came through their World Cup European qualifying tournament with flying colours in August, winning six from six to take them through to the global qualifier in Nepal the other side of new year.
