Chippa United will be searching for a piece of history when they visit Cape Town City on Saturday having never beaten the Citizens in the Mother City.

The match at the Athlone Stadium presents both sides with the opportunity to put some daylight between them and the relegation zone, with Chippa having seen an upturn in recent fortunes with seven points from the last nine available, though they remain at the foot of the table.

Their first two visits to City resulted in losses, a 4-1 defeat in the 2016/17 season and a 2-0 loss the following campaign.

They did manage a point almost a year ago to the day when they Rhulani Manzini cancelled out a Riyaad Norodien strike, with both goals coming in the opening 16 minutes.

With Chippa have kept a clean sheet in their last three games, and City being held 0-0 in their previous two matches, it is not expected to be a goals fest.

Chippa have also never kept four clean sheets in a row in the club’s history in the professional leagues.
