Cape Town City coach Jan Olde Riekerink says his side must make maximum use of their next two home games in the wake of the 3-0 Absa Premiership humbling at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

The loss leaves City just a point above bottom place and nervously looking over their shoulder after just three wins in 18 league matches this season.

Next up they host BidVest Wits on Saturday, before a home meeting with fellow strugglers Black Leopards in January 24.

Despite the scoreline against Chiefs, Olde Riekerink believes his side showed some good signs in the match.

"Football is about scoring goals and if they score three and we score zero, it's good they deserve to win," Olde Riekerink said.

"We started not good, I don't know why, the composure, they were very motivated, they worked very hard. First five to 15 minutes it was about the altitude or the weather, we were very tight and then we opened up.

"I think we got three very good opportunities, every game we play good we have great chances, today we did, so we have to go on but I have to make my team compliment for what we tried to achieve but in the end we get three high balls, the same balls as against AmaZulu and there were three goals.

"Now we have two home games, I know what we can do. By some phases in the game we really played good football, we had good solutions and I'm happy to be the coach of the guys because they work hard. I have 100 percent no question that, we have to finalise the game and not only play good football.

"I trust my team, I like the way they work, only today three high balls, three goals and we played better, but it's not points so sometimes that's also a way to win the game," the Dutch coach said.
