Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer was delighted with his side’s 1-0 Absa Premiership victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, even if he admitted his side had profited from some luck in the game.

Gabadinho Mhango scored his 11th goal of the season as Pirates upset Sundowns’ title aspirations, to leave The Brazilians nine points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs with 13 games remaining.

Pirates moved into fifth, 14 points adrift of Chiefs but on a good run of form after 14 points taken from the last 18 available.

"I think it was a good game for both teams but we have a little more luck, we need the luck and I think in the end of the time we make a good work about a really good team from Sundowns," Zinnbauer said.

"Congratulations for this team, perfect players, good tactic, it's very hard against them. It's very good, congratulations for this team.

"First I have to say, the supporters now, it's great! We need this! It's beautiful, we heard in the ear, we feel that the players come back and we made a good job without the ball and a good job with the ball but we need time.

“It's not all, it's very good, it's coming but we make a lot of mistakes but we'll work on this and then we come."

Pirates are next in action at home to Highlands Park on Saturday.
