Given their history, the last thing struggling AmaZulu will have wanted is an away clash at Kaizer Chiefs, but that is where they are headed in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Usuthu are rock-bottom of the table on 20 points, and visit a Chiefs side against who they have had just a single success in their last 25 meetings.

That was all the way back in 2007 when Usuthu claimed a 2-1 away win, but the proceeding 13 years have been a tale of woe.

In fact, the Durban-based side have only managed to score in one of their last seven encounters, a 3-2 defeat in January 2019.

Chiefs’ Soweto derby success this past weekend has breathed new life into their championship charge having stuttered through the past few weeks, and it seems almost inconceivable they will stumble against Usutu.

They currently head the Absa Premiership table and can move 10 points clear of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns with a win, albeit that the Brazilians will have two games in hand.

Sundowns are involved in CAF Champions League action, which gives Chiefs the chance to put points on the board and the Tshwane side under pressure in the title race.
