Kekana, Onyango top list of active players with most PSL titles

Six-time PSL winner Daine Klate retired as one of the most successful players in the history of the top flight league last year.

We take a look at successful players, who are currently playing in the Absa Premiership having won the league four times or more.

Elias Pelembe

Club: Bidvest Wits

Trophies: 4

The Mozambique international won two titles with SuperSport United, before helping Mamelodi Sundowns clinch the 2014/15 trophy and he was also part of Wits' 2016/17 league winning team.

Bongani Khumalo

Club: SuperSport United

Trophies: 4

The former Bafana Bafana captain was one of the key players as SuperSport won three successive titles between 2008 and 2010, before adding one trophy during his two-year spell with Bidvest Wits.

Oupa Manyisa

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 4 titles

The Bafana Bafana midfielder was very instrumental as Orlando Pirates clinched two back-to-back trophies between 2011 and 2012 and he since helped Mamelodi Sundowns lift two titles in 2018 and 2019.

Pitso Mosimane, the Sundowns coach, has praised Manyisa's work with the experienced player having enjoyed some success with two Gauteng giants.

"Oupa is humble and he doesn't need accolades or praise to do that, he sacrifices himself for the team. He's unbelievable and he gives us a big balance," Mosimane said.

"He's like the Frank Rijkaard - when they don't play you miss them, but when they play you don't see them. It's an unbelievable contribution he does."

Kennedy Mweene

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 4

The legendary Zambian goalkeeper has had a successful stay with Mamelodi Sundowns as the second-choice keeper winning four trophies with the club between 2014 and 2019.

Wayne Arendse

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 4

The experienced central defender is another Mamelodi Sundowns player, who has won four titles with the Tshwane giants since he joined the club in 2012 from Santos FC.

Tiyani Mabunda

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 4

The tough-tackling central midfielder has had to work hard to keep his place in the Mamelodi Sundowns team down the years and he has helped the team lift four trophies.

Tebogo Langerman

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 5

The experienced left-back won his first title with SuperSport United during the 2009/10 season and he has since helped Mamelodi Sundowns clinch the trophy four times.

Denis Onyango

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 6

The Uganda international is joint-record six-time PSL title winner having clinched two trophies with SuperSport between 2009 and 2010, before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns where he has won two more.

Anthony Laffor

The Liberia international is another record holder in the Mamelodi Sundowns squad having won six trophies - three with SuperSport United between 2008 and 2010 and three at his current club.

Hlompho Kekana

Club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Trophies: 6

The Bafana Bafana midfielder is one of the most decorated players in the history of the PSL with a record six winner's medals having won two with SuperSport in 2009 and 2010, while clinching four more with Mamelodi Sundowns.
