Rivaldo Coetzee is looking forward to a return to action for Mamelodi Sundowns when the Absa Premiership season resumes after recovering from a leg problem picked up in December.

Coetzee’s career has been ravaged by injury in the last few seasons, but he can now look forward to better days after recovering from his latest set-back.

When he was injured in the 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC, there were fears that his season was over, but the break in the campaign due to the Covid-19 pandemic has given him time to get back to full fitness.

“It’s good to be back to being part of the team for the daily training sessions. I am just hoping to get stronger from here,” he told the club’s website.

“There are a few things I need to work on and I am looking forward to doing that. I want to help the team as much as possible.”

Coetzee, who has been used in both defence and midfield, has managed just six Absa Premiership appearances this campaign, and only 19 in the last three years due to his persistent injury problems.

The 23-year-old will be looking to make up for lost time when football does return as Sundowns seek to haul in leaders Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the table.

The Brazilians trail by four points but have a game in hand with nine matches remaining in their season.
