Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Promise Mkhuma admits it has been ‘so far, so good’ since his elevation to the first team, but knows that there will be hurdles ahead in his bid for a regular first team place.

The winger was a star of the Sundowns side that competed in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge and is now hoping to take that form into the Absa Premiership when the season resumes.

The South African Under-20 international has yet to make his debut, but is hopeful it will be soon.

“I have to sit down with the likes of Keletso [Makgalwa], [Sphelele] Mkhulise and [Motjeka] Madisha and get their advice as to how they absorbed pressure when they were promoted to the first team,” he told his club’s website.

“I don’t know what kind of challenges I’m going to face. It shows that they worked hard if you look at where they are and I can also do the same. Their guidance is going to be key for me.”

Coach Pitso Mosimane is clearly a fan of the 20-year-old, particularly his ability from dead-ball situations.

“Promise has done very well. He has proved that he deserves my attention. He has really shown that I must look at him. The free-kicks have been good and he has been supplying the balls. Let’s see first what Promise can do.” Mosimane said.

Sundowns have nine Absa Premiership matches remaining this season, and are also still involved in the Nedbank Cup, where they have a semifinal against BidVest Wits.
