Black Leopards have been dealt a blow just a few weeks before the resumption of the Absa premiership season after coach Alan Clark resigned on Tuesday.

Clark was tight-lipped about his next move, save to say he was taking up an opportunity in Europe.

It will leave Leopards scrambling to find a replacement ahead of the restart of the league season on August 11, with the club sitting bottom of the table, three points from safety.

It also means they will have to hire a fifth permanent coach of the campaign, after Lionel Soccoia, Luc Eymael and Cavin Johnson also preceded Clark.

Clark, who had worked as assistant coach to Johnson at Platinum Stars, SuperSport United and AmaZulu before Leopards, was handed the reins in early February.

He won three of his first four games in charge, though two of those were in the Nedbank Cup. He has one win and four defeats from his five leagues matches in charge, and three wins from eight games overall.
