Burkina Faso are appearing in their 12th AFCON tournament, they return after missing out in 2019.

Burkina Faso have managed to finish second and third in two of their last three AFCON appearances, ending as runners up to Nigeria in 2013 and defeating Ghana in the play-off for third place in 2017.

The Stallions qualified for five successive AFCON finals their best run of successive qualifications, between 2010 and 2017, before failing to qualify in 2019.

Burkina Faso first qualified for the AFCON in 1978 but waited 18 years to 1996 before they managed to reach the tournament again.
