Wydad Casablanca beat USM Alger 3-1 at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on Friday night to confirm their place in the 2019-20 Total CAF Champions League knockout stages.

Goals from Walid El Karti, Badie Aouk and Kazadi Kasengu steered the hosts to all three points and onto the next round where they will be joined by Group C rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, who've already booked their quarterfinal ticket.

The Moroccan giants opened the scoring after just seven minutes as El Karti raced onto a flick-on from Kasengu before guiding the ball home for his first of the campaign.

Aouk doubled the hosts' lead in the 24th minute. A long ball forward found the attacker who split the defensive line before rounding a stranded Mohamed Zemmamouche and rolling the ball into an empty net.

Wydad threatened to humiliate their visitors as Kasengu netted his seventh goal in six games for the Moroccan champions on the cusp of halftime to send the home fans into absolute delirium.

To their credit, USMA improved following the interval and the Algerians would grab a consolation through Mohamed Meftah in the 79th minute.

That, though, is how good it would get for them as they suffered defeat and elimination from this season's competition.
