Al Ahly and Egypt's legend Mohamed Aboutrika has asked the Al Ahly board to withdraw from the CAF Champions League final and not play the match, stating that Morocco hosting the final is an injustice by CAF. The Egyptian giants made it to the final after a 6-2 aggregate win over Algeria's ES Setif. They face Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca on 30 May 2022. Aboutrikka took to Twitter last night and asked the giants not to play the game

Earlier in the week, the giants wrote to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) asking for assistance. They have also taken the matter to the court of arbitration and FIFA has also received a letter from the Egyptian football association asking for intervention.

Aboutrika feels they should take a firm decision against what he describes as an ‘injustice’ and called for the board of directors to make the drastic steps in protesting against CAF.

“Congratulations to Al-Ahly Club for reaching the final and hard luck for ES Setif. Sometimes withdrawal and not being present is a championship in itself,” he wrote on social media.

“I wish the Al-Ahly club’s board of directors to withdraw from the tournament in order to preserve its position and prestige against the injustice of CAF. I am sorry for my opinion in public, but I did not find another way. to our beloved club.”

Al Ahly have announced in an official statement that they will play the CAFCL final at any stadium. The club also announced that they will keep their complain with CAS against the CAF’s decision.

The Egyptian giants plans to host an international press conference where they, will uncover all hidden details which led to CAF taking their decision on the finals venue
