Benni McCarthy is hoping his Midas touch can end AmaZulu’s horror run at home against Kaizer Chiefs that has seen them winless in the league since 1992, as he declares his side are ready to “go to war”.

Usuthu welcome the struggling Soweto side on Saturday for their DStv Premiership clash, having seen an uptick in their own form after a disappointing start to the season.

Chiefs have just a single win in five league games this campaign and languish in 13th, but McCarthy says they will prepare for the game as they do all matches.

"Chiefs, in the history of South African football, they are the big one. But we prepare the way we do for every single match," McCarthy said.

"We try and focus on ourselves and fix what we need to fix so that we get back to our best. That is what we work on, and we do analyse, study and watch videos of the opposition but we don’t try and worry too much about them.

“We just make sure we don’t play into their hands and their strengths, and that we make the most of the game in what we want to do.

"It is our home game, so we need to set the standard. We need to control the pace of the game and that is why we need to focus on ourselves. Not disrespecting any opposition but when it comes to us, we know if we do what we must do, the opposition is in for a tough time.

“We are ready to fight. We are ready to go to war. We are ready to do what we need to do to go for all three points, which are never easy but that is the goal and that is how we have prepared."
