Wolaitta Dicha have given the big boys the run around in the Ethiopian Premier League, helping to ensure that neither St George nor Ethiopia Coffee could catch champions Fasil, but on Tuesday they were held to a 1-1 draw by league strugglers Jimma Aba Jifar.

Jimma started well and should have gone been ahead with a Rahim Osumanu free header.

Wolaitta got in on the act on 30 minutes with Gatoch Panom shooting narrowly wide from a great set-up by Sintayehu Mengistu.

One minute later, they had another opportunity and this time it was Yared Dawit who failed to convert after Abubakher Nuri closed him down.

However, Prince Waongo shot Jimma Aba Jifar ahead by converting from close range in the 38th minute.

In the 45th minute, Wolaitta had more than four players shooting at Jimma with all the shots blocked by the Jimma wall until the last one by Jeylan Kemal went out, meaning Jimma held on to their slim 1-0 lead.

Wolaitta Dicha started the second half on fire and attacked the Jimma defence and Chernt Gugsa, as he often does, broke into the box, and as he made to control the ball, got bundled for a penalty.

Sintayehu Mengistu stepped up to take it and managed to beat the keeper, but the ball bounced off the crossbar. He hang around the box, beating the offside trap and when the ball returned to the area he was at the end of it and while the Jimma defence signalled for offside, he scored the equaliser
