Red Arrows secured their first MTN Super League title since 2004 and just their second ever championship win following a 4-1 victory over Chambishi on Sunday.

The relegation places were also decided, while Zesco United secured the second CAF Champions League qualification berth and Green Eagles will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, despite losing in the penultimate round.

The only thing left to be decided this season is who will join them, and that will go down to the wire in the final round of matches.

Arrows’ comprehensive victory moved them to 67 points from 33 games, seven ahead of Zesco, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Nkwazi.

Ricky Banda put Arrows in front in the first half, before their lead was doubled by Yusuf Saddam just before the break.

Chambishi pulled a goal back through Francis Kasaka, but Arrows would not be denied their historic moment and Freddy Tshimenga and George Mandu scored further goals to seal their triumph.

While there was triumph for the Airmen, there was despair at four other clubs – Konkola Blades, Kafue Celtic, Indeni and Lusaka Dynamos – who all suffered relegation after their matches.

A Bruce Musakanya goal secured a 1-0 win for Kansanshi Dynamos over Lusaka Dynamos, who not many would have picked for the drop at the start of the campaign.

Ocean Mushure scored a penalty 20 minutes from time for Kabwe Warriors to sink Kafue Celtic, while Moses Phiri netted for Zanaco in their 1-0 win over Indeni.

Konkola Blades go down after a 1-1 draw with Forest Rangers. Clifford Mulenga continued his good form as he put the latter in front, but Anthony Chiyuka equalised for Blades. It was not enough to save them.

Zanaco will now hope to cling onto fourth as they are level on 49 points with Nkana FC, and two ahead of Power Dynamos and Kansanshi Dynamos.

Zanaco must still play their game in hand over Buildcon on midweek which could put some daylight between them and the rest in the race for the Confederation Cup.

Prison Leopards secured a surprise 3-1 home win over Green Eagles as Conlyde Luchanga, Wilmore Hatembo and Damiano Kola found the back of the net for them. Eagles’ consolation came via Hosea Silwimba.

Finally, Green Buffaloes secured a 2-1 win over Buildcon thanks to a brace of goals from Martin Njobvu. Christopher Chola netted for the hosts.
