Chippa United have added two more defenders to their roster as they seek to work their way out of Absa Premiership danger, signing Bangaly Keita from Free State Stars and Zambian defender Donashano Malama.

It comes just two days after Gladwin Shitolo joined Chippa on loan from Orlando Pirates.

Keita, who hails from Mali, has played nine league games for Stars this season, but his last was in the 3-1 home loss to Pirates on 11 December.

Malama played for Zambia at the 2015 African Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea. His previous clubs include Nkana FC and the Moroccan outfit Olympique Khouribga, where he was briefly on the books last year.

Chippa have had a major overhaul of personnel as they sit second from bottom in the Absa Premiership standings.

Thabo Nthethe, James Okwuoso, Buyani Sali, Jabulani Shongwe and Miguel Timm have all been told they are out of the club and must look for new employment while Thato Mokeke has gone to Cape Town City.

The Port Elizabeth club are concerned about their future in the top flight as they sit second from bottom with 12 points from 17 games, only one more than bottom-placed Maritzburg United.

The bottom two sides go head-to-head at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday (live on SS4).
