The post-match Opta facts for the weekend’s Premier League matches

Manchester United 2-0 Manchester City

Manchester United completed a league double over Manchester City for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, last achieving it in the 2009-10 campaign.

Manchester City suffered their seventh defeat of the Premier League campaign, making 2019-20 the season in which Pep Guardiola has lost the most league games in his managerial career.

Manchester United are now unbeaten in their last 10 games across all competitions (W7 D3); their longest run without defeat since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first 11 games in charge of the club between December 2018 and February 2019.

This was Manchester City’s third defeat against Manchester United in all competitions in 2019-20 – it is the second time in Pep Guardiola’s managerial career that he has suffered as many as three defeats against a specific opponent in a single season (also versus Liverpool in 2017-18).

Anthony Martial is only the second Manchester United player to score in three consecutive Premier League starts in Manchester derbies, and the first since Eric Cantona netted in five in a row between March 1993 and April 1996.

Martial became the first Manchester United player to score home and away against Manchester City in the same Premier League campaign since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2006-07.

Since making his debut in the competition on February 1, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has been directly involved in more goals in the Premier League than any other player (five - two goals and three assists).

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling became the fourth-youngest player to reach 250 appearances in the Premier League (25y 91d), after Wayne Rooney, James Milner and Gareth Barry.

Chelsea 4-0 Everton

Chelsea registered their biggest Premier League victory since a 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town in February 2019.

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti suffered his joint-heaviest league defeat as a manager, with this equalling a 4-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid as Real Madrid manager in February 2015.

Chelsea have scored 21 goals via English players in the Premier League this season – only Leicester City (31) and Southampton (24) have had more.

Everton had just three shots in this match – their fewest in a Premier League game since December 2017 against Liverpool (also three attempts).

Pedro scored and assisted in the first 21 minutes of this game – he had only been involved in two goals in his previous 21 Premier League matches beforehand.

Chelsea used three 18-year-olds in this game – Billy Gilmour, Faustino Anjorin and Armando Broja – becoming the first team to see three players aged 18 or younger appear in the same Premier League game since May 2016, when West Brom did so against Liverpool.

Billy Gilmour became the first outfield Scottish player to start a Premier League match for Chelsea since Steve Clarke in May 1998, with that match taking place more than three years before Gilmour was born.

Chelsea forward Pedro has ended on the winning side in all 24 matches at Stamford Bridge in all competitions in which he’s found the net.

Arsenal 1-0 West Ham United

Arsenal are unbeaten in eight Premier League games (W4 D4), the longest current run in the competition.

West Ham have lost each of their last six Premier League away games, their longest such run on the road since a run of eight between August-December 2006 (8).

Arsenal have kept three clean sheets in their last four Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 23 in the competition.

Since the start of last season, Arsenal have scored 16 Premier League goals via substitutes, more than any other side in the competition. Alexandre Lacazette has scored four of these – no other player has scored more.

All seven of Alexandre Lacazette’s Premier League goals for Arsenal this season have been scored at the Emirates, the highest 100 per cent home scoring record in the division this term.

West Ham manager David Moyes has never won away against Arsenal in 16 attempts (D4 L12) – it’s the most a manager has faced a side away from home without ever winning in the competition’s history.

Crystal Palace 1-0 Watford

Crystal Palace have won three consecutive Premier League games without conceding for the first time since March 2017, the third game of which was also a 1-0 home win against Watford.

Watford have failed to score in a league-high 13 different Premier League games this season.

There were eight yellow cards in this match – only Arsenal v Chelsea in December (9) has seen more in the Premier League this season.

Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew scored his eighth Premier League goal of the season, more than he’s netted in any of his previous campaigns. Ayew has now also scored nine Premier League goals for Crystal Palace, more than he did at either Aston Villa (7) or Swansea (8).

Ayew scored his 24th Premier League goal, with the opener in the 28th minute his earliest ever strike in the competition.

Christian Benteke was involved in 60 per cent of Crystal Palace’s 10 shots in this match (two shots, four chances created).

Sheffield United 1-0 Norwich City

Sheffield United have won home and away against Norwich in a single league season for the first time since the 1938-39 campaign in the second tier.

Norwich City have won fewer away points in the Premier League this season than any other side (6).

Sheffield United have lost just two of their last 11 Premier League home games (W6 D3), winning two of their last three.

Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp has scored four goals in his last three league appearances against Norwich, including in each of his last two at Bramall Lane.

Sharp has netted twice in his last three Premier League games after scoring just once in his first 17.

Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson has kept 10 clean sheets in his 27 Premier League games this season – becoming the 11th keeper to reach double figures under the age of 23, and the fourth English keeper to do so after Joe Hart, Scott Carson and Jack Butland.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle United

Newcastle have won three consecutive league games against Southampton for the first time in their history.

Southampton have lost both matches against Newcastle in a single Premier League season for only the second time, also doing so in 2004-05.

Newcastle were awarded their first penalty in 37 Premier League games (March 2019 v Everton), while the Magpies have now missed four of their last five penalties in the Premier League.

Alex McCarthy is the first Southampton goalkeeper to save a penalty at St. Mary’s in the Premier League since Kelvin Davis v Man Utd in September 2012 – 2743 days ago.

All three of Allan Saint-Maximin’s goals for Newcastle in all competitions have come away from home, also netting v Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the Premier League.

No Premier League side has received more red cards in 2019-20 than Southampton (3), following Moussa Djenepo’s 28th-minute sending off.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Wolves have drawn five games nil-nil in all competitions this season, the most of any Premier League side.

Wolves have now played 47 games in all competitions this season, one more than in the entirety of last season.

Brighton are the only side in England’s top four tiers yet to win a league match in 2020 (P9 W0 D6 L3).

Wolves have kept four clean sheets in their last five Premier League games, as many shutouts as they had managed in their previous 25 games in the competition.

Seven of the last nine league meetings between Wolves and Brighton at Molineux have ended as draws, with last season's encounter at Molineux also finishing goalless.

Despite coming on in the 64th minute, Adama Traoré completed more dribbles than any other player in the game (5).

Burnley 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

This was the 100th league meeting between Burnley and Spurs; the tie was the 25th draw, with Spurs winning 39 games to Burnley’s 36.

Only Liverpool (48) and Manchester City (32) have earned more points than Spurs since José Mourinho’s first game in charge in November (27 – tied with Wolves).

Burnley have failed to win a Premier League game at Turf Moor despite scoring the opening goal for the first time since December 2018 v Liverpool (1-3) – they had won 11 games in a row from such a position.

There were nine yellow cards in this match – the joint-most in a single Premier League game this season (level with Arsenal v Chelsea in December).

Dele Alli became the seventh player to reach 50 Premier League goals for Spurs - only Harry Kane (23 years 44 days) reached this milestone at a younger age for the club than Alli (23 years 331 days).

Burnley defender Ben Mee has given away five penalties in the Premier League in his career, at least three more than any other Burnley player.

Chris Wood has netted 11 league goals this season, his best-ever top-flight campaign. Wood is the third Burnley player to net more than 10 times in a Premier League campaign after Ashley Barnes last season (12) and Danny Ings in 2014-15 (11).

Spurs boss José Mourinho has only faced Swansea City as many times in the Premier League without losing as he has Burnley (nine each).
