Everton v Tottenham Hotspur

Everton’s 1-0 win over Spurs in the reverse fixture ended a run of 15 league games without a win against them (D7 L8). They’ve not done the league double over Spurs since the 1985-86 campaign.

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last seven away league games against Everton (W3 D4), since losing three in a row at Goodison Park between January 2011 and December 2012.

The last four meetings between Everton and Tottenham at Goodison Park in all competitions have produced 22 goals (8 for Everton, 14 for Spurs), with the Toffees winning 5-4 in an FA Cup game earlier this season.

Everton have won just one of their last eight Premier League home games (D2 L5), with the Toffees failing to score more than once in any of these eight games (5 goals in total).

Everton have failed to win any of their last four Premier League matches (D2 L2), last going five in a row without winning in the competition back in December 2018 under Marco Silva – indeed, the fifth game in that run came against Spurs, losing 2-6 at Goodison Park.

Tottenham have dropped 18 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, with only Brighton (20) losing more. Indeed, Spurs have let the lead slip in three of their last four Premier League matches (D1 L2).

42% (11/26) of Tottenham’s away league goals this season came in their first two such matches (5-2 v Southampton, 6-1 v Man Utd), with Spurs netting 15 times in their 14 games on the road since.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored 10 goals in his last 11 games against Everton in all competitions, including six goals in six appearances at Goodison Park.

Everton could become just the third side to complete a league double against a side managed by José Mourinho, with all of these coming in the Portuguese’s two seasons in north London with Spurs (vs Chelsea in 2019-20 and Liverpool this season).

Tottenham’s Son Heung-min has scored 14 Premier League goals in 30 appearances this season, his joint-best tally in a single campaign in the competition alongside 2016-17 (14 goals in 34 apps). Eight of his 14 goals have come away from home this term, twice as many as he netted on the road in 2019-20 (4).

Newcastle United – West Ham United

April 17, 2021

Newcastle are looking to achieve their fifth Premier League double over West Ham (1993-94, 1994-95, 2010-11 and 2017-18), something they’ve only done as many times in the competition against Spurs.

West Ham have won just two of their last 16 Premier League away games against Newcastle (D6 L8), winning 1-0 in November 2012 and 3-0 in December 2018.

Since David Moyes returned to the club, West Ham are unbeaten in all 22 of their Premier League games against sides in the bottom half of the table (W14 D8). Meanwhile, Newcastle have won just four of their 23 games against sides in the top four since returning to the Premier League in 2017 (D2 L17).

Newcastle’s win against Burnley last time out ended a run of seven Premier League games without a victory (D4 L3). The Magpies are looking to secure back-to-back league wins for only the second time this season (also in December).

West Ham have scored three goals in each of their last three Premier League games – they last scored 3+ goals in four top-flight games in a row back in August/September 1928.

West Ham have gone 3-0 ahead in each of their last three Premier League games – in the competition’s history, only Manchester United have scored the first three goals in four consecutive matches before, doing so twice in February 2010 and September 2011.

Newcastle’s Callum Wilson has scored more Premier League goals against West Ham than he has vs any other side in the competition, netting eight goals in nine appearances against the Hammers.

Jarrod Bowen has scored in each of his last three Premier League games for West Ham – he last scored in four consecutive league games in November 2019, in the Championship with Hull City. No West Ham player has been involved in more league goals than Bowen this season (12 – 8 goals, 4 assists).

Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin has been involved in five goals in his last six Premier League appearances (2 goals, 3 assists), as many as in his previous 19 in the competition. The Frenchman has exactly the same tally of goals (3) and assists (4) in 18 games this season as he got in 26 appearances last season.

With eight goals in just nine Premier League games at West Ham this season, Jesse Lingard has equalled his best goal tally in a single top-flight campaign (also 8 in 33 apps in 2017-18).

Wolverhampton Wanderers – Sheffield United

April 17, 2021

Wolves are looking to secure their first league double over Sheffield United since the 2013-14 League One campaign, following their 2-0 win at Bramall Lane earlier this season.

Sheffield United have won just one of their last 13 away league games against Wolves (D6 L6) and are winless in seven at Molineux since a 3-1 victory in October 2002.

Wolves are looking to win consecutive Premier League games for just the third time this season. However, they’ve lost their last two home games in the competition, last losing three in a row at Molineux in November 2018.

Sheffield United scored at least twice in two of their first three Premier League away games last season (2-2 v Chelsea, 2-0 v Everton). Since then, they’ve only scored twice in two of their 31 away league games, failing to score 16 times in that run.

Sheffield United have won just four points from a possible 45 away from home in the Premier League this season (W1 D1 L13), with the Blades netting just seven times on the road this season.

Sheffield United have scored a league-low 17 goals so far in the Premier League this season but have an expected goals (xG) total of 28.2, meaning they’ve scored roughly 11 goals fewer than expected. Only Fulham (12) have a bigger such difference this term.

Sheffield United’s 25 league defeats this season is just one off their record number of defeats in a league season, with the Blades losing 26 times in both 1975-76 (out of 42 games) and 2010-11 (46 games).

Wolves are averaging 11.8 shots-per-game, and just one goal-per-game in the Premier League this season – of their seven campaigns in the competition, they’ve only averaged lower for both in 2009-10 (11.5 shots, 0.8 goals).

Since their return to the Premier League in 2018, only Liverpool (7) have scored more winning goals in the 90th minute or later than Wolves (5).

After a run of 35 Premier League games without a goal or assist, Wolves’ Adama Traoré has either scored (1) or assisted (1) a goal in his last two appearances, netting a 90th minute winner against Fulham last time out.

Arsenal v Fulham

April 18, 2021

Arsenal have never lost at home against Fulham in 29 previous meetings (W24 D5), more than they’ve faced any other side at home without defeat in all competitions.

Fulham have lost each of their last six Premier League meetings with Arsenal, conceding 18 goals and scoring just three in reply.

Arsenal’s last three Premier League games against Fulham have seen the Gunners win 5-1, 4-1 and 3-0. In their top-flight history, they’ve never beaten an opponent by at least three goals in four consecutive games before.

Arsenal have lost just one of their last 42 home league games against sides in the relegation zone (W39 D2), though it was in their last such match against Burnley back in December (0-1).

Arsenal are looking to win back-to-back league games for the first time since January. However, the Gunners have lost eight home games in all competitions this season, their most in a single campaign since 1929-30 (9).

As well as having the lowest shot conversion rate in the Premier League this season (6.4%), Fulham have the biggest difference between expected goals (35.9) and goals scored (24), meaning they’ve scored around 12 goals fewer than would normally be expected.

Fulham have lost each of their last four Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 17 in the competition (W3 D10 L4).

Both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have found the net in all three of their Premier League games for Arsenal against Fulham, with both strikers netting four goals each in these meetings.

Alexandre Lacazette is Arsenal’s highest league scorer this season with 13 goals, with the Frenchman only netting more in a Premier League campaign in 2017-18 (14). Meanwhile, only Harry Kane (7) has scored more Premier League London derby goals this season than Lacazette (5).

Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has played in more Premier League London derbies without ever ending on the winning side than any other player in the competition’s history, with the Serbian drawing two and losing 14 of his 16 such appearances.

Manchester United v Burnley

April 18, 2021

Manchester United are looking to complete their first league double over Burnley since the 1975-76 campaign, following their 1-0 win at Turf Moor in the reverse fixture.

Burnley won this exact fixture 2-0 last season, last winning consecutive away league games against Man Utd back in September 1962.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last four Premier League away games against Man Utd (W1 D3) – the only team to avoid defeat in five consecutive Premier League visits to Old Trafford is Chelsea, who did so in six consecutive games between 1994 and 1998.

The home side won three of the first four Premier League meetings between Man Utd and Burnley (D1) – since then, the home side has failed to win any of the nine meetings between the sides (D3 L6).

Manchester United have come from behind to win nine Premier League games this season – in the competition’s history, only Newcastle in 2001-02 (10) have won more having fallen behind.

Manchester United are looking to win five consecutive Premier League games for the first time since they won their first six under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær in January 2019.

Since winning back-to-back league games against Liverpool and Aston Villa in January, Burnley have won just two of their subsequent 12 Premier League matches (D5 L5). Both of these victories have come away from home, however (vs Crystal Palace and Everton).

Burnley’s Chris Wood has scored in his last two Premier League games away against Man Utd. Only five visiting players have scored in three consecutive appearances at Old Trafford in the competition – Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (2001), Mark Viduka (2007), Emmanuel Adebayor (2014), Sergio Agüero (2015) and Gylfi Sigurdsson (2017).

Man Utd’s Mason Greenwood has scored in each of his last two Premier League appearances, having scored in just one of his first 23 games this season. The 19-year-old has scored 13 Premier League goals in total, with only Wayne Rooney (15) scoring more as a teenager for the Red Devils in the competition.

No player has had more shots without scoring in the Premier League this season than Burnley’s Josh Brownhill (27). Indeed, Brownhill hasn’t scored with any of his 33 attempts in the competition since his debut for the Clarets in February 2020.

Leeds United – Liverpool

April 19, 2021

Leeds have won just one of their last 11 home games against Liverpool in all competitions (D3 L7), with that being a famous 4-3 victory in November 2000 with Mark Viduka scoring all four for the Whites.

Liverpool won the reverse fixture 4-3 on the opening day – they’ve done the double over Leeds four times in the Premier League, with no side doing so more against them (1996-97, 1997-98, 1999-00 and 2002-03).

Leeds have conceded 52 goals in their 25 Premier League games against Liverpool, more than they have versus any other side in the competition.

Following their 2-1 win at Man City last time out, Leeds could become just the second side in Premier League history to beat the league leaders and the reigning champions (in either order) in consecutive matches, after Everton in February 2010 (vs Chelsea and Manchester United).

Leeds have won each of their last three Premier League matches, with the Whites last winning four top-flight games in a row within the same season back in April 2001 (a run of six).

Liverpool have won three consecutive league games for just the second time this season (also their first three of the campaign in September), coming from behind to beat Aston Villa last time out.

Liverpool have won five of their last six away league games (L1), more than they had in their previous 15 on the road (W4 D6 L5). The Reds have also won each of their last four Premier League games in Yorkshire, last having a longer winning run in the county in the top-flight between March 1908-October 1909 (5).

Leeds have both scored and conceded exactly 49 Premier League goals this season – if they score and concede in this game, it will be the joint-second fewest games in which a team has both scored and conceded 50 goals in a single Premier League campaign (Tottenham 30 in 2007-08, QPR 32 in 1994-95).

No side have scored more Premier League goals from outside the box than Leeds this season (12). Indeed, both of Leeds’ goals against Man City last time out were from outside the box, with both scored by Stuart Dallas from the Whites’ only two shots in the game.

Mohamed Salah has scored 19 Premier League goals this season – he could become the first Liverpool player to reach 20 in three separate campaigns in the competition (also 2017-18 and 2018-19).
