Veteran striker Winstone Kalengo grabbed a hattrick as champions Zesco United kept up their 100 percent record in the Zambian Super League with a 3-1 away win over Green Buffaloes on Sunday.

Zesco now have 15 points from their first five games of the new campaign, and remain one point behind leaders Red Arrows, who have played one game more.

A 2-0 away win at Mufulira Wanderers on Saturday ensured Arrows stayed top as Evans Musonda scored early to give them the perfect start at Shinde Stadium and James Chamanga made it 2-0 on the stroke of halftime.

The 34-year-old Kalengo scored twice in the first half and got one more in the second stanza at Sunset Stadium for an easy triumph for Zesco, who gave away a late consolation goal to the military team.

The chasing pack all lost ground as Forest Rangers were beaten to remain on 11 points and are now joined by Green Eagles, Napsa Stars and new boys Kansanshi Dynamos, who all drew in weekend league action.

Stars are now officially in third place on the number of goals scored after a 1-1 draw at home with African Champions League campaigners Green Eagles

At the bottom of the table, Lumwana Radiants got their first victory of the season with a thumping 3-0 win over Kabwe Youth Academy, who now drop down to the bottom place and remain the only Super League side without success.

All the goals came in the second half as Emmanuel Manda, Martin Dzilah (from the penalty spot) and Chaniza Zulu scored against KYA, who finished the match down to 10 men.
