Zesco United were the big weekend winners in the Zambia Super League as they moved to within a single point of the top of the table with a 3-1 success over Buildcon.

Zesco were the only one of the top seven teams to claim victory, as just four points separate those sides in a packed top half of the table.

Buildcon took the lead through Najeeb Abbas, but when Thabani Kamusoko equalised for the home side the fixture turned in their favour.

They were ahead when Brian Mwila put the ball into his own net and the points were sealed late on through Enock Sakala Jnr.

Top side Zanaco had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Red Arrows despite taking the lead with 18 minutes to go through Moses Phiri.

Their joy was short-lived as Joseph Phiri grabbed an equaliser for Arrows soon afterwards.

Second-placed Forest Rangers fell to a 1-0 away loss at Nkwazi as Pride Mwansa netted after 10 minutes, while Lusaka Dynamos, in fourth, drew 0-0 at home to Young Green Eagles in what turned out to be a missed opportunity for them.

Fifth-placed Prison Leopards twice let a lead slip as they were held 2-2 by Green Buffaloes in what will have been a frustrating outing for them.

Tshite Mweshi scored a brace for Leopards, but there were three goals in six crazy minutes in the second half that defined the game.

After Mweshi’s opener, Frederick Mwimanzi equalised for Buffaloes, before the former put the home side ahead again a minute later. But shortly afterwards Obrey Chellah equalised again for the visitors.

Green Eagles claimed a 2-1 home win over Lumwana Radiants as Amity Shamende scored from the penalty-spot and Collins Mulenga added a second just after halftime.

Musonda Siame narrowed the deficit 14 minutes from time.

Indeni and Kabwe Warriors played to a 0-0 draw, while bottom side Kitwe United grabbed a point at Power Dynamos to frustrate their hosts.

Godfrey Ngwenya had the home side ahead, but Edward Lungu equalised for the visitors 20 minutes from the end.
