esco United returned to the top of the Zambia Super League with a thumping 3-0 victory over Forest Rangers with a Ndola derby win at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday.

The win will be a huge boost in confidence for Zesco, who have handed a big defeat to one of their title rivals as they reclaim their position at the summit of the league.

Zesco lead second-placed Zanaco by a single point and also have a game in hand as they look to create some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack in the next few weeks.

Two early goals set Zesco on their way as Winston Kalengo and Zimbabwe midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike netted to put the home side on the back foot.

The points were made safe when Enock Sakala added a third with 20 minutes to go as Zesco gave a hint of their championship credentials.

Buildcon moved up to sixth with a 2-1 victory over Young Green Eagles as they returned to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

They took the lead on 13 minutes with a fine goal from Brian Mwila, and doubled that advantage through Zambia international Patrick Ngoma just passed the hour-mark.

But Young Green Eagles narrowed the deficit through Liable Chijiba with 15 minutes remaining to set up a tense finish.

Young Green Eagles sit second-bottom in the league having won three of their 19 matches to date.
