Zesco United gave further evidence of their Zambia Super League title credentials with a thumping 4-1 victory over Lumwana Radiants on Thursday.

Zesco look to have entered a two-horse race with Zanaco for the league title this season as the pair pull away from the chasing pack.

Their fourth victory in a row moved the side to 37 points from 19 games, one more than Zanaco and with a game in hand. Forest Rangers are in third on 31 points from 19 games, along with Buildcon and Kabwe Warriors, who have both played 20 times.

Zesco took an early lead through Adrian Chama, which was doubled a minute into the second period by Solomon Sakala. Teenager Luwawa Kasoma then made it 3-0 to seemingly seal the points, though there was perhaps a flutter on the home bench when Emmanuel Manda pulled a goal back for Radiants.

Zimbabwe midfielder Thabani Kamusoko added the cherry on top for Zesco though as he scored in injury time at the end of the game.

Red Arrows picked up a precious 1-0 home win over high-flying Prison Leopards as veteran forward James Chamanga continued his recent excellent form with the only goal.

Chamanga netted seven minutes after the break to give his side the victory as they moved up to eighth in the table, level on 29 points with Leopards, though they have played a game more.

It is a third win in succession for Arrows, who have overcome a sticky start to the season and look to be a team on the move.

Young Green Eagles completed a surprise 3-1 home victory over NAPSA Stars in a match that was carried over from Wednesday due to the state of the pitch.

Jakob Ngulube put Eagles ahead, before Damiano Kola and teenage CAR forward Isaac Ngoma made the points safe. Jimmy Mukeya grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.
