Leaders Zesco United claimed a 1-0 victory over Green Buffaloes on Saturday to maintain their seven-point advantage at the top of the Zambia Super League.

Second-placed Zanaco also won on the day as the top two open up a gap between themselves and the chasing pack.

John Chingandu scored the only goal of the game for Zesco with a cracking finish and though they had further chances to increase their lead, will be delighted with a seventh win in a row that maintains their ascendancy in the title race.

Zanaco continue to breathe down their neck though as they were victorious by a 2-1 scoreline at home to in-form Lusaka Dynamos.

Moses Phiri put the side ahead with a neat finish just before halftime, but Dynamos looked to have rescued a point when they netted through Marvin Jere with 15 minutes remaining.

However, that parity lasted just two minutes before Ernest Mbewe put the home side back in front and they were able to hold on for the win.

In other matches on Saturday, Kabwe Warriors defeated Young Green Eagles 1-0 thanks to a superb free-kick goal from Aka Mwachiaba.

Struggling Lumwana Radiants stunned Buildcon with a 2-1 home win after first-half goals from Jimmy Nakena and Gerald Simusokwe. Billy Mutale pulled one back for the visitors midway through the second period but the home side were able to hold on.

Finally, Prison Leopards scored two goals inside the opening nine minutes to defeat Nkwazi 2-1, with David Obash and Tshite Mweshi on target.
