Zesco United’s stumble towards the Zambia Super League crown continued on Wednesday when they were thumped 3-0 by Prison Leopards in a shock result.

Leaders Zesco had to play for over an hour with 10 men after a red card for Kelvin Kampamba, but by the time he was sent off they were already behind to a penalty from David Obashi.

Ghanaian forward Augustine Henneh added another for Leopards with 20 minutes to play, before Obashi completed the rout with his second.

The win is a massive boost for Leopards, who climb away from the relegation zone, while Zesco still have a commanding lead at the top.

They are eight points ahead of second-placed Zanaco with a game in hand, but have now lost three of their last four games in a worrying late-season blip.

Kabwe Warriors climbed to third after a 1-0 win over relegation-threatened NAPSA Stars, who missed yet another chance to get out of the bottom four.

It is a big boost for Warriors CAF club competition hopes as Prince Mumba scored the only goal of the game with six minutes remaining.
