Fans across the world can now watch an array of sports including cricket, hockey and golf following a ground-breaking broadcast partnership between SuperSport Schools and the National Premier League (NPL).

All leagues which fall under the NPL, including the Lenasia Premier League (LPL), Cape Town Premier League (CPL), Durban Premier League (DPL), Joburg Hockey League (JHL) and the Golf Premier League (GPL), will be available live and as video on demand via the SuperSport Schools streaming platforms.

SuperSport Schools, South Africa’s premier broadcaster of school and youth sport, will cover all of the NPL sporting events and fixtures across the calendar year, bringing a bumper addition of live youth sport to the platform.

SuperSport senior commercial manager Rendani Ramovha said: “At SuperSport Schools we recognise the importance of our youth sports structures and as much as we have a wonderfully established school sport environment, clubs and franchised youth sport are an important part of the youth sport ecosystem. It is for this reason that we are particularly pleased to have the various NPL Leagues and Clubs signed to the SuperSport Schools platform for the next three years.”

“Ziyaad and his various franchise owners have done a remarkable job in building their various leagues and franchises and are bringing a fresh approach to youth sport in South Africa. We are proud to be the official broadcast partner of these leagues.”

Fans can access the content by simply downloading the SuperSport Schools app or registering on www.supersportschools.com, find the NPL content of their choice and start streaming. It’s that simple to watch your favourite team. There will be no subscription fees payable as all content on the platforms is free to consume.

“We are delighted to announce this ground-breaking partnership. It changes the sporting landscape as it allows for talented players within our structures to showcase their talent to the world.” NPL CEO Ziyaad Desai enthused.

The CPL (cricket) in Cape Town concluded over the weekend with the Devils Peak Dragons claiming the 2021 title. The JHL (hockey) started this week and will see a carnival of hockey taking place across Johannesburg and streamed to the SuperSport Schools App.

“The possibilities of the partnership are limitless. Players and coaches get to display their skills, there will be insight into the lives of the next generation of sporting superstars, it is truly a doorway of opportunity for all our young cricket, hockey and golfers,” Desai said.

“Score a hundred off 50 balls, take a hat-trick to win the game in the Final or score a last-minute winner, who knows who could be watching and recognises your ability. Today it’s the NPL and tomorrow you could be the next global sensation,” Desai concluded.
