IPL SATURDAY - Double Header
SuperSport Cricket, 12pm and 4pm CAT

In the first double-header of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore – featuring South Africa’s explosive AB de Villiers – face off against Rajasthan Royals, followed by Delhi Capitals (with Kagiso Rabada at their disposal) up against Kolkata Knight Riders. All these teams are already clamouring for a place in the top four and we’re set for a thrilling day’s action.

GIRO D'ITALIA - Day 1
SuperSport Variety 1 (206), 1pm CAT

The 103rd Giro d’Italia will begin on the island of Sicily on 3 October and will conclude in Milan on 25 October. The Grande Partenza (the race start) was originally planned for Hungary (before the Covid-19 pandemic delayed the staging of the event) but will now be hosted by Sicily where four stages will take place before the race moves on to the Italian mainland.

African fans will have team NTT Pro to support while some of the big names duke it out for the title. Defending champion Richard Carapaz will go up against the likes of Vincenzo Nibali, Simon Yates, Jakob Fuglslang for the pink jersey.

BOK SHOWDOWN
SuperSport Rugby, 4:55pm CAT

The cream of South Africa's local rugby talent will be on show on Saturday as Rassie Erasmus' Springbok Green team takes on Jacques Nienaber's Springbok Gold team at Newlands in what promises to be an entertaining and revealing spectacle.

------------------------------------------------

LEEDS v MANCHESTER CITY - Premier League
SuperSport Premier League, 6:30pm CAT

Leeds United have returned to the Premier League after a 16-years absence like they were never away, pushing Liverpool to the limit in their opening game, before winning their next two.

How will they handle one of the title favourites, Manchester City, though? Their record against them in the PL is good, having won 6 and drawn 4 of their 14 encounters, but this is a very different City side to the pre-2004 one. This should be full of goals . . .

------------------------------------------------

HOLM v ALDANA - UFC
SuperSport Grandstand/Variety 3, 3am CAT

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s second stint at ‘Fight Island’ continues on Sunday with a Fight Night headlined by a women’s bantamweight ‘title eliminator’ between Holly Holm and Irene Aldana. Holm (13-5-0) is a former bantamweight champion and renowned as the first fighter to hand Ronda Rousey a defeat in her professional career, though the 38-year-old American has lost five of her eight matches since that career peak back in 2016.

Aldana (12-5-0) is chasing a third straight win after overcoming Vanessa Melo and Ketlen Vieira in September and December 2019 respectively..

------------------------------------------------

ROLAND GARROS - Day 8
SuperSport Tennis, 11am CAT

It’s been a rough week at Roland Garros after an uncertain start – first because of Covid-19 cases in the bubble and then when icy cold and wet weather put a damper on the tournament’s start. But tennis won in the end as some of the best players in the world put the distractions to one side to battle on the clay. Sunday is the last chance to seal a spot in the second week as the tournament reaches the business end.

------------------------------------------------

MAN UNITED v TOTTENHAM - Premier League
SuperSport Premier League, 5:30pm CAT

Unsteady start to the season for both sides, who have already registered their first losses very early. Spurs will still be fuming over the penalty that cost them two points against Newcastle, and Jose Mourinho will return to Old Trafford hoping luck goes his way this time.

History heavily favours the Red Devils, having won 35 and drawn 12 of the 56 PL encounters between the two, but the likes of Kane and Son will be looking to take advantage of a shaky United defence.

------------------------------------------------

ASTON VILLA v LIVERPOOL - Premier League
SuperSport Premier League, 8:15pm CAT

Two sides with perfect records so far this season go head to head in the weekend's final PL match. Who would have thought you'd be saying that about Villa after their miraculous relegation escape last season?

Villa gave the Reds a big fright in this fixture last season, with Klopp's men requiring two late goals to snatch a 2-1 victory. Will the Villans - who have won two Carabao Cup matches as well this season - be able to hold their nerve against the champions? Expect a fascinating encounter here.

------------------------------------------------

JUVENTUS v NAPOLI - Serie A
SuperSport Football, 8:45pm CAT

With Cristiano Ronaldo having already laced up his scoring boots this season, this will be a big test for the title credentials of Napoli, who head the table at this very early stage after two wins.

Juve got off to a great start with a 3-0 win over Sampdoria, but their 2-2 draw with Roma will give Napoli hope, especially after they can draw on a 6-0 victory over Genoa already this season. This one has fireworks written all over it . . . Mama Mia!
