Kruyswijk moves into world’s top 200 with Centurion win

Jacques Kruyswijk’s win in the Sunshine Tour Invitational at Centurion Country Club last week saw him climb 28 places on the Official World Golf Ranking to move inside the world’s top 200.

Before his win, Kruyswijk was ranked 220th in the world, and he starts this week in 192, his highest-ever position on the list after he started what has been a good year for him in 451st. He will be taking his good form and success with him back on to the European Tour this week as he competes in the Dutch Open.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout got a good boost from his fifth-place finish in the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship. He started that tournament in 44th place, and he climbed to 39th after a good week at Wentworth.

South Africa currently has eight players inside the world’s top 100, with Dean Burmester’s share of 30th in the BMW PGA Championship leaving him unchanged in 102nd as the first South African outside the top 100. Daniel van Tonder is currently the 10-best South African, according to the rankings, and he has been on the slide for a while. He climbed to a career-high of 72nd after winning the Kenya Savannah Classic and coming second in the Limpopo Championship. He’s down to 114th this week after missing the cut at Wentworth.

The top South African remains Louis Oosthuizen. He is still in eighth place, He’s followed by Bezuidenhout, Garrick Higgo, who is down to 48th, and Erik van Rooyen who is up to 52nd. Branden Grace rounds out the top five. He is unchanged in 57th.
