South Africa will not know the identity of their next Africa Cup of Nations opponents until the last of the group matches on Wednesday but will play one of holders Ivory Coast, Cameroon or neighbours Mozambique.

As runners-up in Group B, which Bafana Bafana achieved after their narrow 3-2 win over Zimbabwe in Marrakech on Monday, they will be heading to Rabat’s Stade Madina for their next clash in the last-16 of the tournament in Morocco. They play against the runners-up in Group F, which will be the last set of group fixture late on New Year’s Eve.

After two games each, Cameroon and Ivory Coast sit tie top of the table on four points and the same goal difference and number of goals with nothing to separate them.

Mozambique are third in the standings on three points after securing their first ever win at the finals when they edged Gabon 3-2 on Sunday.

Gabon are condemned to last place and have been eliminated after losing their opening two games but will be looking for some consolation against Ivory Coast, even if they must do without talisman Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who has gone back to his French club for treatment on a thigh injury.

Cameroon and Mozambique clash in the other match in Agadir. Mozambique will have to win that game to stand any chance of finishing second in the group and setting up a derby with Bafana.
