In an eagerly anticipated re-emergence, the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) weekend festival is set to take place at the KaNyamazane Stadium, with football powerhouses Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns headlining the event.

This marks the first time in six years that the Premier Soccer League's reserve league will grace this venue, the last occurrence being the Diski Shield knockout tournament in 2019.

The festivities will kick off Saturday morning at 10:00 with a match between the host team, TS Galaxy, and Richards Bay. Both sides, grappling with winless streaks in their last three games, are eager to shift their fortunes and set the tone for the weekend.

Following this opening tie, log leaders Orlando Pirates will take the pitch against Marumo Gallants at noon. Comfortable at the top with 34 points from 14 matches, Pirates are keen to maintain their top spot as they aim for continued success.

On Sunday, the league matches will heat up as Orbit College seeks to build on last weekend's victory in a clash against Sekhukhune United at 10am. The weekend will culminate with a highly anticipated showdown at noon between the formidable Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The meeting of these two giants promises to be a spectacle, as both teams vie for their second Diski Challenge title.

Sundowns, the 2017 champions, currently sit second in the league, trailing Pirates by four points and remaining steadfast in their belief that a comeback is possible. Meanwhile, the reigning champs, Chiefs, are determined to defend their title, having amassed 23 points from 13 games, placing them fifth in the standings.

Sundowns leading goalscorer Bennet Mokoena is expected to be among key players in this clash, while for Chiefs, Imaad Hendrics and Neo Bohloko are expected to carry Amakhosi.

Fans are in for a treat, as FREE tickets for the festival will be available for collection at the stadium on Friday starting at 11am.
