The Reds have signed a second former All Blacks prop who is eligible to play for Australia in the shape of Aidan Ross, who will join the team at the end of the 2025 Super Rugby season.

Loosehead Ross, who was born in Australia, has been a stalwart in the front row at the Chiefs since 2017 and played one test for New Zealand against Ireland in July 2022.

"I want the Chiefs to have a huge season in 2025 and finish in a big way because I owe so much to the franchise, the coaches and my teammates for moulding me as a rugby player," Ross, 29, said in a news release.

"Beyond that it is a good time to do something different off-shore. The attraction with Australia is that I can go there and not be a foreign player."

In July, Reds prop Alex Hodgman became the first player in rugby's professional era to represent both New Zealand and Australia at test level.

Hodgman, who played four tests for the All Blacks in 2020 and qualifies for the Wallabies through his father, played 20 minutes for Australia off the bench against Georgia.
