Matias retains IBF title

IBF junior welterweight champion Subriel Matías 20-1; 20 won on a fifth-round stoppage against unbeaten mandatory challenger Shohjahon Ergashev 23-1; 20 on Saturday night at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Ergashev made a good start but Matias’ came back in the fourth round and the referee stopped the fight in the fifth round when Egashev was being punished.

Lamont Roach wins WBA junior lightweight title

Mandatory challenger Lamont Roach 24-1-1; 9 outpointed defending champion Héctor Luis Garcia 16-2; 10  for the WBA junior lightweight title on a split decision over 12 rounds.

Roach stunned Garcia in the eleventh round. The scores were 114-113, 116-111 for Roach and 114-113 for Garcia.

WBC interim champion stops Demetrius Andrade

In a bout between undefeated super middleweights, WBC interim champion David “El Monstruo” Benavidez 28-0; 24 stopped two-division champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade 32-1; 19 in the sixth round. 

Benavidez scored a knockdown in the fourth round and dominated before the fight was stopped in the sixth round.

WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo 32-0; 22 won on a ten-round unanimous points decision against José Benavídez Jr. 28-3-1; 19 in a non-title fight.

In a WBC junior lightweight title eliminator, Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov 21-1; 11 scored a ten-round unanimous points decision over Pablo Vicente 23-2; 17 to become the mandatory challenger for WBC champion O’Shaquie Foster.

Junior welterweight Michel (La Zarza Ali) Rivera 25-1; 14 outpointed former world champion Sergey Lipinets 17-3-1; 13 over ten rounds. The scores were 97-93, 97-93, 96-94.

Junior middleweight Vito Mielnicki Jr. 16-1; 11 stopped Alexis Salazar 25-6; 10 in one round.  Salazar was down three times.

Katie Taylor wins rematch

Katie Taylor 23-1; 6 avenged her loss to undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron 18-1; 8 after she won a ten-round majority points decision on Saturday night at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Cameron was cut on her forehead from a head-butt. The scores were 95-95, 98-92, 96-94.

In a lightweight bout, Gary Cully 17-1; 10 won on a ten-round split decision against Reece Mould 18-2; 6 in a contest for the WBA Continental Europe title. The scores were 96-93 and 97-93 for Cully and 97-93 Mould.

Welterweight Paddy Donovan 12-0; 9 won on a fourth-round knockout over Danny Ball 13-2-1; 6 in a contest for the WBA Continental title. Donovan scored a knockdown and then sent Ball down again at 2:41 into the fourth round.
