Usuthu went into the game with high morale following back-to-back victories against Chippa United and KZN rivals Richards Bay respectively.
The conditions were extremely hot, but the game had a fast pace from the very first 15 minutes of play, and AmaZulu forward Ighodaro looked very threatening going forward but Marks Munyai and co stood their ground to prevent them from conceding early.
As the halftime break approached, it looked increasingly unlikely that either team would break the deadlock and it was goalless by the time the referee blew his whistle.
The second half saw both teams go for it in terms of attacking play, but it was the Rockets who had the last laugh.
Puso Dithejane took advantage of a sleeping Usuthu defence in the 75th minute, shortly after coming on as a substitute.
Rowan Human was a standout performer as he had opportunities charging forward, but it was not to be for the KZN team, who were hoping for a third win on the spin in the Betway Premiership.
The match ended with the Mpumalanga side collecting all three points, much to the satisfaction of club chairman Tim Sukazi, who looked pleased as he watched on from the stands.
