Jonathan Rea rounded off the 2019 World Superbike campaign in style, as he completed a hat-trick of race victories in Qatar on Saturday.

With the Brit battling it out with Alvaro Bautista and both riders tied on 16 wins, an engrossing battle ensued between the pair.

However, Rea eventually manged to get the best of his opponent and overtook him at the mid-race mark, never looking back as he went on to forge an almost three second lead over Chaz Davies, who finished narrowly ahead of his Aruba.it Racing Ducati teammate, Bautista.

Saturday's result means Rea has now matched the record for most wins in a single season - a record set by Doug Polen in 1991 and matched by Rea last season.

Pata Yamaha's Alex Lowes, meanwhile, finished in fourth behind Bautista to clinch third place in the overall riders' championship, while Puccetti Kawasaki's Toprak Razgatlioglu crossed the chequered flag in fifth.

Eugene Laverty of Team Goeleven Ducati sealed a sixth-place finish, Pata Yamaha's crossed the line in seventh, and Loris Baz finished eighth.

Leon Haslam failed to maintain a blistering pace as he faded towards the end, finishing ninth, ahead of Yamaha's Sandro Cortese.
