The Czech world number 33 needed nearly two hours to overcome his American opponent in Antwerp and reach his second tour final of the season, following his career-first victory in Adelaide at the start of the year.
Lehecka has enjoyed a fine week in Belgium, after knocking out former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals. Lehecka, 22, will face 36-year-old Bautista Agut in Sunday's final. The experienced Spaniard beat France's Gaston 6-3, 6-4 to book his spot in the 23rd final of his career.
