The weekend’s DStv Premiership action kicked off at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium as SuperSport United and Swallows FC played to a 2-2 draw on Friday night.

In dramatic circumstances, Swallows were awarded a penalty deep into injury-time as Dillon Solomons’s effort meant that the Dube Birds came away with a point.

On Saturday, Marumo Gallants hosted Golden Arrows with the game ending in a 0-0 stalemate, while the game between AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United ended with the same scoreline.

Cape Town City saw themselves jump into the second spot on the log, following their 2-0 win over TS Galaxy. The Mother City-based club extended their unbeaten streak to 12 games in all competitions, as they claimed all three points at the Cape Town Stadium.

Draws and penalties appeared to have been the theme this weekend, as Stellenbosch and Maritzburg United shared the spoils at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Just after the hour mark, Alfred Ndengane put the visitors ahead via the spot with Judas Mosemaedi responding six minutes later.

Over at Port Elizabeth, Chippa United and Baroka drew 2-2 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The game began on a timid note, however, the game was brought to life after a 84th-minute strike by Decide Chauke before Thokozani Sekotlong levelled matters in injury time.

In the final tie of the weekend, champions Mamelodi Sundowns travelled to the FNB Stadium to face Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday evening.

Aubrey Modiba got his name on the scoresheet for Sundowns while Phathutshedzo Nange scored for the Glamour Boys
